All muslims are not islamists
Lest anyone is in doubt about my stance on this whole Middle East issue, let me tell you quickly where I am at.
I feel very sorry for the many mild mannered muslims who are being mistaken for belonging to the group of flag burning nutjobs in the press these days. I hope my fellow danes on the receiving end of this petulent hate campaign will remember that not all muslims are raging zealots.
I always make a mental effort to differentiate between islamists and muslims. The latter are regularly religious people who believe islam is about love and understanding, much like your garden variety christians. Islamists tend more towards being fervent hate-mongers who believe the infidels that don't believe in sticking their women into burkas should be snuffed out by their brethren in dynamite vests.
The former I have absolutely no beef with, other than my regular disaccord with the choice of religion over science and facts.
The latter I would like to die horrible deaths, much like the ones they like to videotape themselves bestowing on various westerners.
There is absolutely no place for people without the capacity for rational argument and debate in my version of modern society.
And no, I really don't think it's wrong to kill people who are that far gone when trying to protect our own societies from their zealotry. But you better be real damn sure who you are pointing your gun at before you pull the trigger.
Update:
Khaled at Broken Kode turns out to be the moderate type of muslim. He wrote an article about this whole affair, which is a view I really appreciated.
Read Khaleds article here.
Cristopher at Restiffbard also comments on the case, and his words could pretty much be my words. I completely agree with Cristopher that the muslim states need to get their house in order.
I basically think that whatever validity the complaint against the 12 drawings once had, has completed been drowned out by crazy embassy-torching fuckers.
More on this later.
I completely agree with the whole reaction to the cartoons as being somewhat over the top, or fucking ridiculous, as some might say.
Peace to all Danes, I've only met one Danish person and he was good enough to buy a round of drinks during a Euro 2000 game for a bunch of people he hardly knew. Which obviously biases me towards all Danish people.
Muslims are kind of a mixed bunch. As you say, mild mannered believers, but so many are easily mislead. Witness Iran, Syria, Pakistan.
I believe they are being stirred up by a small bunch, generally Sunnis, bent on restoring the Grand Caliphate that ruled most of the North Africa up to Spain until around the 15th century. bin Laden is among them although not a major player nowadays.
The movement had its roots in Egypt earlier last century with the establishment of a secret society known as the Muslim Brotherhood.
I believe it's a case of Who's In Charge ( of the Earth, that, is).
One cannot truly appreciate the long history that so-called religious zealots have with each other without respecting the fact that this is much more a continuing war over who is running world-wide affairs.
Many of the Captives bought to this country during the Slave Trade were Muslims of the peaceful type.
The first actual slave ship was named "The Good Ship Jesus"!
The comparison of Religious Extremists and single Nationals is bogus, since a great many Danes are also Muslim.
Islam is not an Arab religion, but a growing world wide one.
Former slaves in this country (America) have fought religious extremists for centuries (burning crosses, etc.).
Charles may not be in Charge anymore, and he hates it.
